Q. In 2012, Do You Really Still Need
A Radar Detector to Protect
Your Driving Licence?

A. If you are happy to be 95% sure that you are covered by your GPS Speed Camera Detector and Laser Detector or Jammer, then NO, you don’t.

However, if you want to be able to detect ALL types of Speed Trap before you ever get a ticket or summons, then YES, you do.

Here’s why...

How my Radar Detector saved me recently...

It detected this “SID” (Speed Indication Device) around a blind bend in the road I live in!

My girlfriend was with me so I used her phone to take these pictures, hence the low quality:

PC Sparrow, who was very helpful and agreed to have his picture taken, pictured next to the SID Radar Speed Trap..

...he was simply reading the (un-calibrated) speed reading, making a note of the drivers’ registration number and issuing tickets as he pleased

This is how difficult the trap is to spot when the officer is not standing next to it
(which he wasn’t until we spoke to him)...

Protect Yourself from these kind of mobile "SID" Speed Traps as well as ALL Radar and Laser Guns used in the UK, with the Best Quality Radar Detector in the UK. Here’s how to Never get a Speeding Ticket ever again!

The *new* BTST™ Radar Laser Detector

From: Adam Blair
Founder -- BTST, Talex Technology, DriveProtect

Dear Fellow Motorist,

Ever since the introduction of Speed Cameras in the UK, I have been sceptical. I am all for road safety but it has become clear that these ‘safety’ cameras are nothing more than bent revenue collecting machines.

Back in 2002 (can't believe it's 10 years ago now...), after receiving my second speeding fine of the year, I vowed to bring to the UK the best value product on the market to allow my fellow motorists to redress the balance of power against the speed revenue collectors.

My BTST Laser and Radar Detector has an RRP of £299.99. However, I run an ongoing Special Offer selling it at HALF PRICE for BTST Members and their families.

Comparative products from the other 2 leading manufacturers retail for at least double this price, and sometimes are as much as three times as much, depending on where you buy them from.

Why are BTST Detectors cheaper than the opposition?

There are two other good quality Radar Detectors on the market today and as the technology has advanced, they have both become very good (no better or worse than the BTST).

But they come at a cost.

This is because there are many lazy companies who buy a few units at a time from wholesalers or distributors - middle men in effect - at an inflated price. They then have to add their own profit on top of the already inflated price.

I have been in the Radar Detector business for more than 7 years now and in that time we have sourced the best Radar Technology factory in the World, who can buy the components in at the right volume to get the right price, and who can ensure that the BTST is on an equal level with the other two quality Radar Detectors out there – the Valentine 1 and the Beltronics.

I have also stuck true to only offering our products direct to the end user, just like Dell have done in the computer industry until very recently.

We get approached by retailers all the time wanting to sell the BTST but I always turn them away because the business model relies on cutting out the middle man.

In other words, you can get a high-end Radar detector (which is not cheap to produce) at a medium level price.

Why don’t I sell ‘GPS’ detectors?

Well, as you will know if you are a Member of my email newsletter, I do! ...and have been for quite a while.

When I wrote the original BTST Radar Detector “sales pitch”, I slagged GPS devices off because their databases were a load of rubbish.

Since that time, we developed a truly comprehensive database of Speed Camera and official Mobile Speed Trap locations, and the standard in the industry in general has improved greatly.

But as we have discovered, the Police and “Safety Partnership” schemes don’t always stick to the rules and operate in the official spots, so that’s why we introduced the BTST Laser Detector last year and are now re-introducing the BTST Radar (and Laser) Detector...

How they Work..

Police radar transceivers (including Gatso Cameras and Radar Guns) work by sending out a radio signal at a set frequency, which gets reflected back by the ‘target’ (you or me). The returned signal frequency changes, according to the speed at which the target is moving and the transceiver calculates your speed by the change in frequency.

The radar signal is transmitted in a conical shape (like a torch beam). At 200 yards (the typical operating range of a radar gun, the signal is as wide as a dual-carriageway. Most of the signal at this distance goes past the target and on up the road, reflecting off trees and houses etc. - eventually becoming Radar Scatter. The BTST detector is extremely sensitive to radio transmitters tuned in to these frequencies and can detect very small particles of radar scatter at up to 2 miles in some cases. It is 100% reliable.

Technical Specification

The BTST Detector is among the most advanced on the market. It is a 5 Band (10 if you include the “sub” bands) Radar detection and Laser detector.

It is installed by either simply plugging into the cigarette lighter in any car, or being "hard wired" in (using a cheap kit that we can supply) and attaches to the windscreen by the high-powered suckers provided.

Installation takes less than 2 minutes if you are plugging it straight in, or 30 minutes if you are 'hard-wiring' it in (if you want an installer to do it for you then we can recommend one - they charge around £60 depending on where you are in the country) and it comes with full easy-to-follow instructions.

It detects not only Gatso Cameras, but also Mini-Gatso’s and Mobile Police speed traps - both Radar traps and Laser traps. This is vital; other units which only detect radar are not giving you 100% protection. The BTST does. Further, it is an advanced device which gives more than enough warning to avoid speed traps: 1 Mile for mobile Police traps and 100 Meters for Gatso cameras. It comes with a full 2 Year Manufacturers Warranty.

When you approach a radar or laser speed trap, you are given the type of trap you are heading towards and a 4 stage distance indicator which increases as you get nearer.

The audio indicators have been specially designed by Canadian sound engineers to be easy on the ear while still alerting you over a radio or mobile phone call. The volume is fully adjustable (including a silent mode), as are visual alerts.

It also has the usual features found on top-end detectors. If you want to see the full technical specification, click here.

What's New on the 2012 Model?

The latest incarnation of the BTST has the following upgrades from the original model:

1

The new BTST can power a TomTom sat-nav from the mini USB socket on the side, and comes complete with the necessary cable in the box...

This means that it can power a TomTom and a BTST from the same power supply (either hard-wired or from the cigarette lighter)!

2

The new BTST comes with TWO different types of mounting bracket, so that you can either mount it conventionally on your windscreen, or as I do, mount it in the "GPS gap" in your car, by the interior mirror.

3

Improved detection range... We periodically had improvements from the factory with the original BTST Radar Detector and with the new model, we have a further improvement.

4

Reduced "false alerts"... Likewise, the new BTST has improved false alert suppression. Any Radar Detector will receive "false" alerts in built up areas.

Technically they are not actually false alerts because the detector is picking up the correct signals, but from the wrong devices (i.e. not speed traps).

However, with the "mute" button, easy-access volume controls and the round centre on/off button, you can just set your detector to be on when you really need it (on motorways or country roads, for example) – where false alerts do not typically exist – rather than when you are stuck in a traffic jam in the centre of town.

Note: The New BTST is supplied with the most common TomTom power cable. A few models of TomTom use a different type of power cable. The cable supplied has a “mini USB” style connector (see image above).

I am trying to build the brand and I am NOT making much money on the first 1000 new BTST’s after development, manufacturing, and order fulfilment costs, so don't hesitate...!
